My favourite photos from 2012 #1 // Family Photographer

I was inspired to do this series after hearing about a photographer who did a five day blog post featuring their favourite images from the previous year. So I’ve decided to follow in their footsteps and do a five day series focusing on a session at a time.

I will go through my archives and choose an image or images to talk about. I also decided to take it one step further and re-edit the image/images that I will feature.

Today, I am sharing an image I took at the end of March 2012. This image was taken about seven months after I picked up my camera and started learning how to use it.

This was a skill-building shoot and as you can imagine, being a new photographer, I was really nervous about this shoot.  I really wanted to get it right.  I was also very keen to shoot from a lifestyle perspective.  I had never done a lifestyle session but I knew I wanted to tell stories through my images.

Mum, dad and their baby were so easy to work with and very quickly, my nervousness disappeared.  When I got home and downloaded the photos, I was really pleased when I saw this one shot.

Nearly a year later and this image still remains one of my favourite photos from this session.
