I don’t just want to put an obligatory shout outs to all fathers on Father’s Day because the truth is not all fathers have stepped up to the plate and taken responsibility of their children.
There are a lot of absent fathers and children growing up fatherless because their biological fathers are absent by choice. I only want to give honour where honour is due.
Saying that, Happy Father’s Day to real men who take care of their children and to real-life heroes who have stepped up to the plate and are raising someone else’s biological offspring. I celebrate you for playing a key role in the well-being of your children and ensuring they are well fed, well looked after and that they grow up to be morally grounded and to be good, responsible citizens of the world.
Anyone can be a father; anyone can reproduce but it takes a special man to hang around and be a daddy. So this is not a shout out to runaway fathers, but to real men – dads, step dads, foster dads and father figures. Happy Father’s Day!
